Interviewer: Tell me a story about--
Jack: Same.
Interviewer: your driving lessons.
Bethany: Oh, one day I ran over a dog.
Jack: She aboot hit a dog.
Bethany: Want to hear this?
Interviewer: Right.
Bethany: Right okay so--
Interviewer: Tell me about it.
Bethany: I was out on my driving lesson, right. And I was in Lochgelly, right. So I'll set the scene up for you.
Interviewer: Okay.
Bethany: I was doon at the public park bit, right. So like the public park's on this side and I was on the road, right, and there's, like, houses and it's like a big square, right. So I was driving round, like, just getting used to, like, stopping and starting, right. It's like my-- was it my third lesson or something, yeah, I hadnae done many lessons.
Jack: It was your second or third I think.
Bethany: Second or third lesson, right, so I was still a really nervous driver, right. And I'd been driving past this group of folk. Like, 'cause I was-- obviously like when I was going roond the square these people were getting closer. So they were going to the park and, like, I drove past them about three times, like, folk in my year and folk in the year below so I knew them and I was like "oh, no." And then I was driving along this road, right, and there was a dog on the grass on this side and my driving instructor was like "oh here's a dog so this would be, like, something that you'd watch oot for," she's like "but we should just be able to keep driving" she was like "so keep going, don't slow down" and I was like "right" and I was like "okay, okay, okay" and then I was about here and the dog ran oot we both had to slam on the brakes, right, and then a' the folk that I knew were, like, at this side of the car and they were, like, standing on the road staring at me and then the dog was just, like, sitting in the heidlights and the owner was, like, look-- the owner pure screamed and then he was pure running about the road trying to get the dog and every time I tried to move the dog would just go back in front of the car
Interviewer: Oh my god.
Bethany: and like everybody was actual standing like laughing at the side of the car that I knew, I was like "no."
Interviewer: Oh my God.
Bethany: And then eventually like we got past, drove roond again and then he was standing in the middle of the road with the dog in his arms, right, and she was like "oh it's fine, just keep driving, he'll move oot the way" and she was like "he'll move out the way, maybe, no, maybe, no." He was just standing in the middle of the road.
Interviewer: So he never moved?
Bethany: So we stopped and he was just standing in front of the car then he just looked at the car and walked away.
Interviewer: Did you not beep him?
Bethany: Well I-- I was just sitting, I was like "I don't know what to do." Like, he just stopped and he was like that, looked at the car, walked into his hoose. She was like "he never even like waved or anything." He wasn't even like "thanks for not running my dog over and thanks for not running me over." And then I got in and somebody that I knew had put it on Twitter, they were like, "just witnessed [name] very near run over a dog."
