| Beverly: | You were talking to her the other day about it, weren't you? |
| Alec: | Yeah, she-- she just, eh-- you know how they're closing down a lot of the toilets? |
| Interviewer: | Yeah. Are they-- the toilets are just, like, quite close here aren't they? |
| Beverly: | Along the-- yeah, yeah, yeah. |
| Alec: | Yeah, well they're all gonna get closed down |
| Interviewer: | Yeah. Mhm. |
| Alec: | with North Ayrhsire and I think it's the same in Largs as well. |
| Interviewer: | Yeah. They were-- the ones behind The Bean and Leaf were gonna get shut too. |
| Alec: | Yeah, well they're talking-- they've-- they've-- this lassie, she's one of these kind of girls in-- on the island, she's into everything-- Not saying into everything. |
| Beverly: | Passionate. |
| Interviewer: | But she gets involved in everything to do with the community. |
| Alec: | She'll-- she gets involved. |
| Beverly: | She-- she gets passionate about community. |
| Alec: | To try-- to try to keep the community good and she's took it on. She was talking to me the other night and she just went "I'm the new-- I'm the new toilet lady." |
| Interviewer: | What do you mean? |
| Alec: | I'm going "you-- you've didnae--" |
| Beverly: | She-- she put it up on Facebook. "I am-- I am now the appointed lavvy cleaner." |
| Alec: | Lavvy-- lavvy cleaner. So she's, eh-- she's taen this on and I went "oh, [name]." I say "you've tooken on a-". She said "I didna realise it was so much work." And they wanted her to sign a three year contract. |
| Interviewer: | She's like "no, I'll do it for the time being." |
| Alec: | And-- and she went "no" so I think they've done like a three month-- |
| Beverly: | Six months, is it? |
| Alec: | Six months. To September. |
| Interviewer: | Mhm. |
| Alec: | I said "well, if youse get employed by the council you're on a six month trial period anyway" |
| Interviewer: | Yeah. |
| Alec: | "so you're just dae-ing what they dae to you." |
| Interviewer: | Mhm. |
| Alec: | She says "but I dunno when-- I dunno what to dae." Eh, she got somebody giving her a hand but she said "I don't know the ins and outs of all the what has to be done" 'cause she's talking aboot putting pictures up in the toilets and putting in wee bars of soap and perfume in the ladies and blah blah blah. |
| Interviewer: | Yeah. That sounds quite good actually. |
| Alec: | And of course I'm saying-- "Yeah, it'll be good, hen" I said "but you'll need to chain them to the wall 'cause they'll just go walkabouts." |
