Kyle: Mind when you had to go in front of the class and sing by yoursel?
Interviewer: "We all live in a yellow submarine" and then she'd mark you out of 15?
Claire: I got 15, by the way.
Kyle: It was brutal, that was brutal. How do they get away with that?
Claire: By the way. I got 15.
Interviewer: I definitely did not.
Claire: For once in my life I was better than [name].
Interviewer: I was, like, the tone deaf worst, I was like "we all live in--"
Kyle: It was so hard not to laugh, as well.
Claire: No, I think you got 14 and a half.
Interviewer: How do you remember that stuff?
Claire: Oh I remember, me and [name], we were the only people who got 15.
Interviewer: Well done.
Claire: I was probably screaming, like scregging. They probably just thought, oh she's too much of a try-hard, we'll just give her 15.
Interviewer: Do you remember in the school concerts as well when we were doing the piano at the back and we used to just all turn our volume down? Were you one of those people?
Claire: Yes.
Kyle: Oh when-- what was that all about? You had to play the keyboard in it
Claire: Like in the school concerts
Kyle: and everybody--
Claire: and everybody was at the back, like, total serious just like-- like tapping on the keys
Interviewer: Yeah.
Claire: and they were just like-- like me and you, we just, one day we just figured out this trick and we just did it every time.

George: And another day I had one coming along here, she just come on the-- at Burwick and she said, eh, "do you go anywhere near Dingy." Something like that 'cause she couldna say the word, and I says "only Dingy I can think of is Dingieshowe in Deerness." "That's it" she says when I said "Dingieshowe". Well I says "we don't really go there, is there any special reason you want to go there?" She says "there is really". She said "oh about 3 years before that, my brother was taking a yacht from Norway doon to-- " Uh, I think he was coming to Newcastle, I'm no sure. England somewhere anyway. And he was lost overboard away south. Maybe he was lost on the boat south of England--
Linda: Yeah, mhm.
George: eh, north of England somewhere. And she said "they would never found him but, uh, the-- all the experts that understand tide says he would-- his body would go south but it didn't, it came north. And he-- he was washed ashore in Dingieshowe." And she said he was still in
Linda: What a distance.
George: his oilskins and he had a name tag and everything on his-- eh,
Linda: Dog tag.
George: oilskin wetsuit whatever, you know? And it was definitely him. "And I would just like to go and see where he was found." Well I says "you got about two-- hour and a half, two hours in Kirkwall free time this afternoon. If you want to hire a taxi it can take you oot there, it's no that far. 20 minutes, half an hour. And it'll no cost you that-- " This was years ago. Probably cost £10 or something like that, so. When we went to pick them up to come back to Burwick to the ferry, she come on board and I says "did you get out to Dingieshowe?" And she says "yes I did". She says "I climbed up on top of the sand dunes there, looked out to sea, picked up a pebble, and I'm going home happy" she said.
